So I normally just put my new releases up and that’s that, but this one requires a bit more of a preamble. The story of the story, if you will. A behind the scenes glimpse of the origin of the Buff Orpington franchise idea.
Long ago, somewhere around the COVIDs, a friend made a relatively unobtrusive post showing a picture of a Buff Orpington breed chicken. Another friend of ours casually commented that it sounded like a cheesy 80s action hero. Well, the idea took root and exploded in the messy, creative author brains of Jamie Ibson and myself. We created somewhere around twenty fictitious, overly obnoxious titles for the Buff Orpington franchise and sprinkled them into the background of our Four Horsemen universe novel, Unshackled. The lovable but psychotic and deadly Flatar (think slightly bigger, intelligent hamsters) Alvin, Simon, and Theodore are tremendous Buff Orpington fans, both referencing the movies and drawing upon them for inspiration throughout the novel.
Anyway, here we are, years later, having finally written and released the first of what will someday be many Buff Orpington novels. It begins as a mostly modern day spy thriller in the James Bond/Mission Impossible vein, but after a major record scratch slips sideways into a deep, twisty, bizarre adventure into… well, you’ll just have to read it because I’m not sure I can describe it any further. All I can say is that it’s a hell of a ride and adventure in the greatest of traditions.
Check it out, and good luck!
